Interactive eBook FAQs

Q: How do I view and complete the online PDF activity eBooks?
PC/Mac

In order to read a PDF file, you must have Adobe Reader (or another PDF reader which supports PDF forms) installed on your PC/Mac. Adobe Reader is free and can be downloaded here. Follow the instructions on the Adobe site to download and install the Adobe Reader onto your machine.
You will then be ready to read and complete the Balance Learning Interactive eBooks.
Please note: When downloading the eBooks in Google Chrome, please save to your desktop and open using your PDF Reader. Chrome’s built-in PDF viewer does not currently support all of the functionality included in our eBooks.

iPhone/iPad

You will need to download a PDF reader that makes it possible for iPhone/iPad users to not only read and manage PDF documents, but also enter information into form fields. Apps that enable this functionality for iPhone/iPad include:  PDF Expert from Readdle, Touch-Fill-Go from EarthLink, Inc. and Form Tools PDF From Relevantwalk Software.

Android mobile and tablet devices

Although the Android platforms have a native PDF reader built-in, it does not allow users to complete forms. Therefore Android users will need to download an App that enables them to fill in PDF forms. Examples of applicable Apps found on the Android Market include: qPDF Notes from Qoppa Software (Demo and full versions) and ezPDF Reader from Unidocs Inc.

Other mobile devices

Please ensure the PDF reader you use to view the Balance Learning Interactive eBooks has the capability to complete forms included to ensure you can utilise the full functionality of our eBooks.

Q: Will it cost me anything to download PDF Reader Apps

Whilst there are many PDF Readers that are free, most PDF Readers that support PDF forms (which is required to complete the Balance Learning Interactive eBooks) will not be free. The cost may vary according to the software and platform you are downloading on to.

1. Launch the software automatically and begin to play; or

3. Some PCs will require the DVD software to be open before manually launching the DVD from the 'My Computer' window.

Other FAQs

Q: I am trying to demo your courses but am experiencing problems with the course launching. What is the solution?
The most common problem will be that pop-up blocker is enabled on your PC. You will need to allow pop-ups from www.dimensionmanager.co.uk (Our LMS) in your chosen pop-up blocking sofware.

Q: You mentioned 'Licences' , what does this mean?
When one student/employee auto enrols or is set up on the course, this is one licence and the licence is for one year. They can access the course as many times as they like until the licence expires.

Q: I have 1000 people to put through a Health and Safety course, and not enough time to organise and look after it all, what can you do?
We suggest a auto enrol page which we will create and host and provide you with this link. You can then place this link on the staff notice board, your intranet, emailed out - in fact anywhere your staff will see it. At any point you can ask us for an audit report to see how many people have signed up. Alternatively we can give you an administrative login to allow you to view the number of users and even their post test scores.

Q: What do I do as an administrator?
Nothing, unless you want to. You can manually set up anyone on to the course, view audit reports and even set up automatic reminder emails to be sent if the post test isn't completed.

Q: Where can I get the government guidelines for Health and Safety Training?
Health and Safety Executive will give you all the information.
