Course Description

Coaching is one of the most effective ways of improving people’s skills, understanding and enthusiasm.

This course based on the GROW model helps you develop a structured approach to coaching, recognise good coaching opportunities, plan and carry out productive coaching sessions while adjusting your coaching style to suit the person and the situation.

Learning Outcomes

Once you have completed this course, you will understand that there’s an art to bringing the best out of people. Specifically you will be able to:

  • Understand what coaching is, its benefits, and how to overcome common barriers to coaching and being coached.
  • Plan a coaching project and know how to pick when, what and who to coach, and know how to plan your coaching approach according to the learner’s performance and motivation.
  • Identify effective coaching skills, and understand the differences between coach (push) and learner (pull) centred behaviours.
  • Assess your own core coaching skills and develop a self-development plan.
  • Use the GROW ( G oals, R eality, O ptions and W hat) model to plan effective coaching sessions.
  • Assess the coaching relationship – understand the importance of feelings, and know what to do if the relationship is working and what if it isn’t.
  • Define and review benchmarks of success – for the learner and for yourself.

Audience: Anyone who needs to coach including managers, supervisors, team leaders, specialists and experts.
