To create stimulating e-learning, we look to the best practice found in the classroom. Great trainers involve their students, moderate the pace of training, inject a memorable piece of humour, challenge and get people thinking, analysing, exploring.
Our audio tutors entertain their virtual students with memorable illustrative and often humorous animations; they make learning relevant by asking for opinions, self-assessment, observation, analysis and identification; they challenge, stimulate and change ideas with business video scenarios that show good and bad practice and the consequences of action or inaction.
According to Training Media Review, it’s as close to classroom training as you can get but you can train when you want to.
Using the Balance Learning Portal participants ’ progress can be monitored and tracked. Timely email reminders are sent to the participants to encourage them to complete the learning, reducing line manager/trainer time spent chasing non-completers.
Optional pre and post-testing assesses students’ knowledge before and after the course. Scores are recorded to provide measurable performance improvement.
PRE-ASSESSMENT
The Practical Business Skills Series has a pre-assessment to assess participants’ knowledge and help participants understand their existing competencies before they start the training event.
On a practical level, the results of the pre-assessment are translated into a series of topic recommendations that provide the participant with an express learning path through the material. The participant can still choose to visit material that is not actively recommended, but is encouraged to visit those areas of the courses that will benefit them most. This adaptive approach means that each participant’s training time is focused and relevant.
POST-ASSESSMENT
Post-assessment is often used to check the level of learning at the end of the programme and in The Practical Business Skills case is provided in the form of the post-test. Once the participant completes the recommended online learning path or feels comfortable to take the post-test, they can do so. A pass mark level can be chosen. If they fail the post-test questions for a section, they can retake twice.
